Product Descpription:
Our factory chooses the most select variety of clay from the Chulucana´s quarries. Such clay goes through a very careful kneading process, before being ready to be used for the production of each of our handicrafts.
The handicrafts of our pottery factory are done with the appropiate quantity of clay in order to mould every produced piece of craftsmanship. For doing so, we use the VICUS ”paleteo” technique, an ancestral technique involving the use of a stone and a wood trowel. These two instruments are used to hit continously and rhythmically the pottery in order to give it the desired structure and thickness.
The polishing, process done to the semi-humid clay, consists in constantly rubbing every piece surface with very thin and small stones until becoming smooth and bright.
The pottery burning or cooking is carried out into a wood-fired oven at 1000° C for approximately 6 hours. The curing or decorating technique “ in negative”, wich has become the main feature of Chulucana´s Potteries, is made in special ovens using dry mango leaves, a fruit natural from our area.
Our pottery factory puts at your disposal all its technique and its ability to produce these beatiful pieces of craftsmanship with the quality, seriousness and experience you need. Our main task is to expand the vicus culture and the use of Chulucana´s potteries around the world, making these pieces of craftsmanship the most beautiful “Clay Jewelry”.
